Description

Contract DE160 forms a critical component of Singapore national level transport infrastructure, the Changi Northern Corridor. It serves large scale industrial zones including the Loyang Industrial Estate, Changi Airfreight Centre and Aviation Logistics Park. In addition, it caters to traffic distribution demands for the future Cross‑Island Line (CRL), aiming to resolve long standing traffic congestion in the Changi North area.

 Main Scope of Works

· New Loyang Viaduct: Approximately 0.9 km-long dual-4-lane vehicular viaduct, comprising multiple entry-exit ramps and interchange structures.

· At-grade road upgrading: Existing Loyang Avenue is widened from dual-2-lane to dual-4-lane to improve ground-level traffic distribution capacity.

· Associated ancillary works: Construction of 3 km cycling paths, drainage networks, traffic lighting, noise barriers, landscape restoration and other supporting facilities.

· Bridge construction methodology: Superstructure of the viaduct fully adopts precast segmental box-girder construction. All box-girder segments and pier columns are mass-produced at an off-site precast yard and transported to site for lifting and assembly.

To meet the prefabricated construction requirements of Contract DE160, Boyoun Heavy Industry supplied custom‑built complete sets of segmental box girder formwork systems and pier column formwork, complying with LTA (Land Transport Authority of Singapore) specifications and the assembly‑line production mode of the precast yard.

Strict controls are implemented over welding, grinding and surface anti-corrosion treatment. The finished pier columns deliver smooth and aesthetic concrete surfaces, satisfying the high finish acceptance requirements of the Singapore client.

Boyoun also delivered complete fabrication drawings, factory test reports and dimensional verification records to the main contractor. Overseas technical briefings together with guidance documents for formwork installation, commissioning and operation were provided to help the precast yard achieve rapid production start-up and minimise on-site adaptation time.

Upon completion, Contract DE160 will significantly boost traffic capacity across the Changi North precinct, divert traffic from the Tampines Expressway and drive the development of the Loyang Industrial Estate and Changi Aviation Logistics Park.
