China Laos Railway Bridges

Description

The China-Laos Railway is one of the key infrastructure project for the China-ASEAN Belt and Road Initiative. The China-Laos railway line is 1,035 kilometers long and consists of the Kunyu, Yumo and Mowan railways. The railway lines use Chinese technology standards and equipment, making it the first jointly operated international railway directly connected to China's rail network.

Amo River Double-Line Mega Bridge

The Amo River Double-Line Mega Bridge is located in Mojiang County, Pu'er City, with a total length of 617.05 meters. It is one of eight controlled projects with the most challenging construction organization, the most complex geological conditions, and the highest safety risks along the Yumo Railway. Its main span is 216 meters. With 123 continuous beam segments, it is the railway bridge with the largest span of its kind in the country.

The average height of the No. 3 and No. 4 main piers is 89.5 meters, and the average water depth at the bridge location is about 36 meters. There are large-volume deep-water foundations, ultra-high and ultra-large volume pier table sections, ultra-large volume cantilever sections, and 70m ultra-high-altitude side span cast-in-place sections. A typical deep-water, high-pier, and ultra-long-span bridge structure is constructed with high technology and high safety risks.Given the challenging construction terrain and environment of the Amo River, Boyoun optimized the plan during the construction process and the main structure was strengthened based on calculation results. At the same time, it helped the construction party overcome many technical challenges, such as "equivalent preloading of ultra-tall and large-span continuous beams," to ensure a safe construction of the project.

Nanxi River Fourth Line Mega Bridge

The Nanxi River Fourth Line Mega Bridge is a crucial control project for the Yumo Section of the China-Laos Railway. After the completion of the Yuanjiang Mega Bridge, which is the highest steel truss railway pier in the world, there will be another 100-meter high bridge.

The bridge spans a total length of 920.3 meters. The spans are arranged as switch continuous beams and rigid frame continuous beams. There are 14 piers and two sets in total. The highest pier, No. 10, is 129m high. The pier body is a double column with two slope changes. The main bridge adopts the form of rigid frame continuous beam with a maximum span of 128m.

On September 15, 2021, the left side of the continuous girder of the Nanxi River Fourth Line Extra Large Bridge in the Yuxi to Mohan section of the Yumo Railway successfully completed the concrete pouring at closure, marking the successful "hand-in-hand" between the left and right sides of the bridge. It laid a solid foundation for the smooth passage of beams across the entire line.
