Zhanxi Bridge adopts the structure of prestressed concrete cast-in-place open-web continuous rigid frame bridge. It is the sixth bridge of the same type nationwide and the second in Chongqing, featuring high technical content and innovative structural design.

Span arrangement: Main span combination (100m+180m+100m), total bridge length 392 meters;
Road standard: Total deck width 33 meters, six-lane urban arterial road with a design speed of 60km/h, adopting separated independent box girders;
Substructure foundation: Main piers are hollow piers supported by group pile caps. The maximum water depth of the river channel reaches 40 meters, and a 237-meter steel trestle is built as the overwater working platform along the whole line;
Construction method: Full-width cantilever casting with diamond form travellers. The upper and lower double-layer girders are cast segment by segment simultaneously. The whole bridge consists of 32 lower chord segments and 84 upper chord segments in total;
Construction difficulties: Complex force system of double-layer hollow girders, strict precision requirements for alignment control of long-span cantilevers, water level management during flood seasons in the reservoir area, and high risks in safety control for cross operations at height and over water.
As a core supporting project for Zhongxian Hub of Chongqing-Wanzhou High-speed Railway and a critical bridge on National Highway G350, Zhongxian Zhanxi Bridge had all substructures completed as of June 2026 and is scheduled to open to traffic by the end of 2026. Upon completion, the bridge will greatly cut down the travel time from urban areas to the high-speed railway station, improve the urban road network and boost the development of the high-speed railway new town.
