The Sungai Krian Bridge is located along the Sarawak Coastal Highway in Malaysia and ranks among the most important transportation infrastructure projects in the region. The bridge has a total length of 690 meters and adopts a structural design combining simply supported-to-continuous spans for the approach bridges with a continuous rigid-frame for the main bridge. Specifically, the main bridge spans 430 meters with a maximum span of 140 meters. The deck is designed for two-way two-lane traffic, with a bridge height of 25 meters and a deck width of 11.5 meters.

Malaysia Sarawak Sungai Krian Bridge Project
Since the commencement of pile foundation construction in January 2023, the project has faced exceptionally demanding construction conditions:
Harsh natural environment: The construction area is characterized by high temperatures and heavy rainfall. Daily tidal ranges reach up to 5 to 6 meters, accompanied by strong currents and a large volume of floating debris, posing significant risks to over-water operations.
Constrained construction windows: The bridge site is located adjacent to active public ferry routes. Construction operations had to be coordinated while ensuring the frequent passage of vessels, imposing enormous pressure on safety management.
Despite these complex working conditions, the project team overcame numerous difficulties and successfully completed the work two months ahead of the original schedule, demonstrating the efficiency and resilience of Chinese infrastructure engineering.
In the construction of the Sungai Krian Bridge, the 430-meter-long continuous rigid-frame cantilever cast-in-place construction of the main bridge was the critical path determining the project schedule. Shandong Boyoun provided three sets of cantilever form traveler systems for this project.
Faced with the harsh Malaysian environment of high temperatures, high humidity, and strong tides, Boyoun's traveler systems, featuring standardized modular design and high-rigidity structural frames, successfully overcame common pain points associated with conventional travelers in overseas projects:
Seamless alignment with technical standards: As a company holding over 100 patents related to form traveler design and fabrication, and having participated in the formulation of industry standards such as the ‘Technical Specification for Cantilever Casting Construction of Bridges’, Boyoun's product quality met rigorous international standards. This seamless compatibility earned high recognition from the general contractor, Zhejiang Communications Construction Group, and the supervision team.

The Sungai Krian Bridge in Malaysia stands as a vivid example of China-Malaysia collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative. Shandong Boyoun is honored to have contributed its leading cantilever traveler technology to this historic project, injecting "Chinese momentum" into the regional economic development of Sarawak. The completion of the bridge has definitively ended the historic dependence on ferry services for local residents and has infused strong momentum into the upgrading of the regional road network and broader socioeconomic growth.
